New computer setup

You bought the machine. We take it from the box to genuinely ready to use — your files moved across, your printer working, and the pre-installed clutter gone.
What we set up

Out of the box and actually ready to work.

A new computer is usable in twenty minutes and properly set up in rather longer. The gap between those two is what this is for.
✓ Windows set up and fully updated
✓ Unboxed and physically set up
✓ Email and accounts signed in and working
✓ Printer and Wi-Fi connected
✓ Pre-installed junk software removed
✓ Security switched on and configured
Worth knowing

The parts people usually get stuck on.

None of this is difficult. It is just fiddly, and each piece has one step that is easy to miss.
01

Moving your old files across

Not part of the setup price, because not everyone needs it — plenty of people are starting fresh. When you do need it, photos, documents, bookmarks and saved passwords all live in different places and the obvious methods miss some of them. We bundle it with the setup at a discounted rate.
02

The software it came with

Most new machines ship with trial software that nags, starts with Windows, and slows the computer down from day one. Removing it is one of the biggest differences you will notice.
03

Accounts and sign-ins

Email, cloud storage and the accounts tied to your old machine need to be signed in properly rather than half set up, or you find out months later that nothing has been backing up.
04

Everything else that connected to the old one

Printers, second monitors, scanners and backup drives all need reconnecting, and a printer that worked fine for years will often refuse the new machine for no obvious reason.
How it works

Bring us both machines and collect one that works.

If you want your files brought across from the old machine, we will take that too. It is a separate service, discounted when it is bundled with the setup.
01

We collect both machines

The new machine — and the old one as well, if you are having your files brought across.
02

We set it up properly

Updates, accounts, junk software removed, security configured, and the machine optimized.
03

We set it up where you use it

Back in place, on your Wi-Fi, talking to your printer, and ready to use.
What it costs

Quoted before we start.

Nothing is done and nothing is charged until you have seen the price and agreed to it.

Pickup & delivery is a flat $19.99. That covers collecting the machine and bringing it back when the work is done, the same anywhere in our service area. It is one fee whether we take one machine or two. It is held on a card beforehand rather than charged, and you pay it along with the service when we hand the machine back — by card or cash. If no work goes ahead, the $19.99 is all you pay.

Or drop it off and collect it yourself — then there is no fee, and no card hold either. We will arrange the spot when we schedule.

New computer setup starts at $149. That covers unboxing, physically setting the machine up, and configuring and optimizing it so it is genuinely ready to use.

Moving your files across is a separate service, starting at $49. Bundled with the setup it comes at a discounted rate — mention it when you get in touch and we will quote the pair together.

Parts, licenses, and third-party services are priced separately when applicable.

No fix, no fee.

If we cannot get it working the way it should, you do not pay for the attempt.
Straight answers

We will not tell you to buy a new one.

We do not sell computers, which means we have nothing to gain from telling you that you need one. If you bring us a machine you are about to replace and it turns out a drive swap or more memory would fix it, we will say so.

Buying a new computer is sometimes the right answer and often not. Either way, the advice costs you nothing and does not depend on which answer earns us more.
