Tech help and tutoring

One-on-one help with the things that come up every day — email, photos, printing, video calls, knowing what is safe to click. At your pace, and without anyone making you feel silly for asking.
What people ask about

Whatever has been bothering you.

There is no syllabus and no set course. You tell us what you want to be able to do, and that is what we work on.
✓ Email that stopped working or will not send
✓ Getting photos off a phone and somewhere safe
✓ Video calls with family
✓ Telling a real message from a scam
✓ Printing, scanning and finding your files again
✓ Using the computer with more confidence
How a session goes

You do it. We sit beside you.

The point is that you can still do it on Tuesday when nobody is there to help.
01

We start where you are

Not with the basics if you do not need them, and not with jargon if you do. We find out what you already know in the first few minutes and go from there.
02

You hold the mouse

It is quicker if we do it for you, and completely useless. You do the clicking, as many times as it takes, until it is yours rather than something you watched.
03

Repeating it is not a problem

Ask us the same thing four times if that is what it takes. Nobody is keeping score, and there is no tone of voice waiting for you the fourth time.
04

There are no dumb questions

Most of what people apologize for asking turns out to be something the computer genuinely does badly — not something you got wrong.
How it works

We come to you, on your own computer.

Learning on your own machine, in your own chair, is the difference between remembering it and not. Some of it can be done remotely if you would rather.
01

Tell us what you want to learn

In your own words. "I cannot get my photos off my phone" is a perfectly good brief.
02

We arrange a time that suits

Not rushed, and not squeezed between two other jobs.
03

You practice it while we are there

So that when you do it on your own next week, you have already done it once.
What it costs

One hour — and usually just the one.

Nothing is done and nothing is charged until you have seen the price and agreed to it.

On-site is $79.99 for the first hour, which includes coming out to you, then $49.99 an hour after that. The same price anywhere in our service area.

If you would rather do it remotely, it is $49.99 an hour — there is no trip, so there is nothing added on top.

One-hour minimum either way. After the first hour, time is charged in 30-minute increments rather than rounded up to the next full hour: a session that runs to an hour and a half costs an hour and a half.

Most people need one hour.

The majority of what we are asked about is finished inside the first hour. We would rather tell you that now than let you budget for an afternoon.
Straight answers

Most of it gets done in the first hour.

There is a one-hour minimum, and the honest position is that most of what people book us for is finished well inside it. The email sorted. The photos off the phone and somewhere they will not be lost. The message that looked suspicious explained in about four minutes.

We are not going to stretch a session to fill the time. If you are done after forty minutes, you are done, and we will say so rather than finding something else to show you.

If you would rather use the rest of the hour to ask about the other three things that have been niggling at you, that is exactly what it is there for. Either way it is the same hour, and you decide how it goes.
